Introducing the lensOS roadmap
Today lensOS gets a new website and a public roadmap. Here’s the short version of where the project is going.
What lensOS is
lensOS is an Arch-based Linux distribution. It uses the official Arch repositories and the AUR, and adds a small set of its own signed packages:
- LensGlass: a liquid-glass theme that runs from the bootloader to your apps
- lens: a package manager that covers Arch repos, the AUR and Flatpak, and takes a snapshot before every update
- linux-lens: a kernel tuned for responsiveness, with an x86-64-v3 build for modern CPUs
- the lensOS installer: a graphical installer that handles drivers, Secure Boot and snapshots for you
KDE Plasma is the flagship edition and ships first. Hyprland, Openbox and a set of tiling window managers come later.
The order of things
- first nightly ISO: a bootable KDE Plasma live ISO, built every day
- liquid glass KDE: the full LensGlass theme and the
lens-themeswitcher - lens: the package manager, with snapshots
- linux-lens: the kernel
- the installer
- Aperture: the first stable release
The roadmap tracks every item as it lands.
