One desktop, light and beautiful
lensOS set out to look good and feel fast. The Openbox edition turned out to be where both meet: a floating bar, a dock, frosted glass, smooth motion and one-click themes, idling in under 800 MB of memory and about 1% of the processor, with Settings covering everything a big desktop’s control panel would.
So from today, that’s lensOS. The KDE Plasma edition is retired: there are no new KDE ISOs, and new work goes into the one desktop.
Running the KDE edition already? Nothing breaks. Your computer keeps getting updates, Arch’s
packages and lensOS’s shared ones (lens, the kernel, drivers); only its KDE-specific settings stay
as they are. To move to the Openbox desktop, install from the current ISO.
Tiling window managers might follow one day, but only if they can stay as light as this. More on the editions page.
