A notification sidebar, and brightness in Settings
Notification sidebar
Missed a notification? Click the new bell on the bar, or press Super + N, and a pane of
frosted glass slides in from the right with everything that popped up since you logged in. Click
one to open the app it came from, hover to dismiss it, or clear them all. Do not disturb is a
switch at the top.
The bell shows how many came since you last looked, and is crossed out while do not disturb holds them back. It costs nothing in the background: the sidebar only runs while it’s open, and the bell only redraws when a notification arrives.
Click anywhere beside the sidebar, press Escape or click the bell again to close it.
Brightness in Settings
Displays & graphics has a Brightness section on laptops: a slider for the screen, and one for the keyboard’s light on laptops that have one. Press the brightness keys while it’s open and the slider follows.
On Macs with the T2 chip, the brightness keys and the bar could pick the Touch Bar’s light instead of the screen’s on some models. They now always skip it.
Getting it
Run lens update (or use the Updates page in Settings), then log out and back in. The bell is on
your bar if you haven’t changed which widgets it shows; otherwise add Notifications in
Settings → Bar. Super + N works too, unless you’ve edited your Openbox shortcuts (then lensOS
leaves them alone and puts its new version next to them as rc.xml.lensos-new).
